midsummertime sadness
In contrast to this, I wanted to write about a bout of summertime sadness that surfaced this week. Because even though I'm still happy about summer and excited about all the tiny things I have planned, I have layers and I'm also feeling sad. Maybe it isn't summer related at all, but that's how it started.

the national museum of finland
A while back (hence no leaves on trees), on one of my Helsinki visits, I went to the National Museum.

project 365: week twenty-four
162: I started the week by actually being outside. My plan was to do a food shop, but it turned into a whole saga. My usual shop was closed for renovations so I went into the city for nothing and decided to get back towards home to go to my #2 shop. But I ended up forgetting some things and had to go to yet another shop. I actually really like food shopping and browsing in them, but this was too much. Haha.

sintra: palácio da pena
I think a lot of people think of the Pena Palace when they think about Sintra. And it's no wonder - it's one of the most stunning places I've ever visited and definitely a bucket list worthy location. There's so much to see and every corner of the palace is the prettiest. I mean, I really struggled to pick favourites out of all the photos I took because I liked them all, so here's plenty of them:

sintra: castelo dos mouros
It's a year since I left Portugal, but I still have a couple of posts from back then to share - from everyone's favourite fairy tale town, Sintra. Even on an overcast (but hot) day, every corner of Sintra was so pretty, and our first stop was at the Castelo dos Mouros. Or the Castle of the Moors.

project 365: week twenty-three
155: A lot of the uni books I'm wanting to read have been checked out of the library (actually went to the library to get books that weren't there because I forgot to check if they're available beforehand..), so I've actually been reading for fun last week. And will hopefully continue to do so this week.

working out when you have chronic pain
Honestly, this is not something I'd thought ever to confess as I've tried to maintain my image and reputation of laziness and 'oh-I-don't-exercise' nonsense, but most of the time I enjoy working out. The gym's not for me, but for almost two years (!) I've had some kind of a workout routine going on that I can do at home. I even mentioned it in passing on here once to hold myself accountable. And I mean, it's kind of worked.

summer at home
Growing up we never went on a summer holiday in the sense I understood that word. I was on holiday from school, we would sometimes visit a different city in Finland, and that was it. Mostly I spent my summers at my grandparents' or at home, usually splitting the time between the two. I'd sometimes ask to go somewhere, to go abroad, especially when I heard about my friends' plans - who'd often go to the Canary Islands or somewhere else that sounded fun and more exciting than two nights in a Finnish town. But at the same time, I always loved my summers.
