fire burnin'

I love fireplaces. I wish I never have to live in a house without one!

one of the best things about winter

My sister was visiting yesterday, and we all went ice skating! We only had my pair of skates so we had to take turns but it was fun all the same. Maybe next time my sister will take her own skates with her.. Also, it was the first time mama skated in ~30 years. Now she's wanting to learn how to skate again, therefore you'll probably see more pictures of us skating and me teaching mama the technique:--). My sister and mama looked like they were going to explore the South Pole, especially when compared to me wearing a wee skirt. Can't wait to go ice skating again♥!

Have any of you had the chance to go ice skating this year? :-)

items

 1. Made this necklace when I was 10, now it only fits as a bracelet.

2. Calendar. I love how it has holidays from different countries, religions etc. - always a reason to party!

3. Got this wee cat from my godmother after Cleo died.

4. Mama's old shirt.

5. Les Miserables.

6. Some jewellery; first one's a gift from my sister, second from a friend, third a souvenir from Tallinn.

7. Still the old shirt of mama's.

Blazer - Grandma's old
Skirt - Diy
Top - H&M

Earrings - Seppälä

I'm supposed to be busy with maths just now but I have zero motivation. I've got a huuuge pile of maths notes from three years. Hopefully, I'll get myself to start revising before the exam. I even did a revision timetable, but well... I've already skived two days, haha. Really need to get a grip. Maybe tomorrow.

oat biscuits and rum

3oz plain flour
½ teaspoon bicarbonate of soda
3oz demerara sugar
3oz porridge oats
3oz butter
1 tablespoon rum
1 tablespoon golden syrup

Mix the flour, bicarbonate of soda, sugar and oats.

Melt the butter with the syrup and rum, pour into the flour mixture.

Shape into balls, bake in 160C for 25min.

This is how I spent the other night. The recipe is from "The Cookery Year", it's a great book! Only after finishing I realized that 'shape into balls' doesn't mean actual balls, but circles. Anyway, the shape doesn't affect the taste! And as the recipe included rum, thought I'd have some rum&coke as well, even though we never have ice.. And to stay in the theme, I watched "The Rum Diary".

Hope you all had an amazing weekend♥!

in grandma's clothes

Dress - New look
Blazer & Turban - Grandma's old
Nomination bracelet & Slippers - Gifts

I went looking for fabric for my graduation dress with mama today. And it looks like they'll have a fabric just the colour of my shoes coming next week, so I'll be visiting the fabric shop again then:) I'm wearing something I've got from my grandma almost every day, I've got so many old cardis, blazers and scarfs of hers. The turban is a saviour on days when you can't be bothered to do anything with your hair! Also mama bought us some belated Valentine's Day gifts. Tulips and heart-shaped doughnuts. Arnolds doughnuts are the best, I could eat them every day! (Actually, can one say they're doughnuts if there's no hole in the middle..?)
