two seasons in taavolagården

Taavolagården is such an idyllic new little place we've discovered and have visited it for a few times since the summer now. It has a café in a building from the early 19th century (1834, I think, since all the signs say so?) complete with interiors fit to that era, as well as a boutique/gift shop and a flea market. In the summer I've also seen people selling handmade goods outside. It is all so cute! So here's some contrasting pictures from this charming wee place in winter and in summer.

project 365: week four

022: I did an art. Or rather finished something I started before Christmas, didn't like it for a while, redid a little, and then finished. If you've read this post from a year ago about the Ylivieska church, you might get how this is a somewhat meaningful piece of art for me. The piece of burnt wood is something I've salvaged myself and the nail is something that is sold and I've gotten as a gift and they're both from the church. Looking forward to hanging this on my wall at some point!

tartan and space buns in budapest

Here's more of the Fisherman's Bastion, the Parliament Building and me - all being real pretty✌ Really, though, Budapest is so pretty. And I am very proud of my little mother for taking all these decent pictures of me!

budapest: part two

We spent basically all of our second day in Budapest on the side of Buda, on the Castle Hill. It was the only day that was a bit gray and it even rained for a while, but it was still a really lovely day. (10/10, would recommend all of Budapest.)

project 365: week three

015: I started last week in a mess of sewing things, make-up and stationery. (And to be honest it has stayed a mess, too.)

budapest: part one

In the autumn I took my mum to Budapest for a few days (because I am a great daughter). It was such a good time to go as well since the weather in Finland was getting colder but it was still reasonably warm in Budapest! I had been telling my mum I'd take her on a holiday since my graduation (so, 2015), but she's a weirdo and despite wanting to go places she never does and has an excuse for not going to every place I'd suggest. But somehow as I found cheap tickets to Budapest and organised everything else, she finally said yes. And we both loved the city.

moomins in tampere

A gloomy, gray autumn day in Tampere last year was, in fact, not that gloomy once we (we being my entire family) went to the Moomin Museum. In any case, I tend to enjoy gloomy days like this anyway and lately all my pictures have looked rather bleak and dark. And I definitely enjoy anything Moomin related. You aren't allowed to take photos inside the museum, apart from this one area in which I'm awkwardly standing next to a cardboard Moomintroll and a text saying anyone who eats pancakes with jam cannot be that dangerous (which is true and such a good, classic Moomin quote!).

project 365: week one

I didn't do it last year (and noticed a clear decline in the number of pictures I took and honestly kind of missed it) so this year I've decided to do Project 365 again. Here's the first week and the beginning of my - at least - photo-a-day in 2018:

thursday thoughts pt. 48

This is something that was part of my yearly goals last year, and still continues to be one. I am certainly not the best with my sleeping schedule: before the Christmas holiday I found myself going to bed around 3am which is not ideal. I try to get up to 8h sleep every night, I try to go to bed before midnight, but as I have absolutely no routine and reason to be out and about come 8 o'clock, I've really come to struggle with going to sleep at a reasonable hour. I've been a bit better while visiting my mum, but still - I am currently still in my PJs and it's nearly 5pm. Please, tell me I am not the only one who is this bad at being an adult/reasonable and responsible human bean!

But this is what I'm trying to do. Early to bed and early to rise, so that I can be all the things I want to be in 2018 and every other year: healthy, wealthy and wise. If enough sleep can make a man all that, it'll surely give something extra to a woman, right? I'd be happy to just be these three things, though!

an unexpected pori trip

As I've been ill (but okay now!) coming from 2017 to 2018, I didn't manage to get any kind of reflective new year's posts or hopeful/inspiring 2018 goal posts done. To be honest, I didn't feel like it anyway as I can sum up it like this: 2017 left me feeling quite 'meh' and I only hope 2018 will be better! Which is why my first post of the year is this one that I hope the coming year will be like, too: a little trip to a little city that was a little bit lovely.
