part-time vegetarian

So, I've been doing this for over a month now, and realized I haven't told anyone else but my family. After hearing about the Meat Free Monday on the radio, I immediately knew I should join in. I must admit that the fact that Paul McCartney's behind the idea made me more eager but it's not only that. Mama thinks I'd do anything if I knew Paul McCartney was doing it too.. I wouldn't say that's entirely true, I'm able to use my own brain! I copied this text from the website so you get the picture:

If you've come here today it's because you care about what you eat and about what's happening to our climate. We do too. That's why we started Meat Free Monday.
By giving up meat for one day each week you can save money, reduce your environmental impact and live a healthier life.
In 2006, a United Nations Food and Agricultural Organization report, Livestock’s Long Shadow, highlighted the environmental impact of meat-eating and the importance of making more environmentally and socially conscious food choices. In 2009, we launched the Meat Free Monday campaign as a simple and straightforward idea to show everyone the value of eating less meat – and to make it easier for us all to do so.
We’re not asking you to give up meat completely, we’re encouraging you to do your bit to help protect our planet. By joining together in having one meat-free day each week we’ll be making great steps towards reducing the environmental problems associated with the meat industry. You’ll also be giving your own health a boost, and with the added benefit that vegetables cost less than meat, having one meat-free day each week means it’s good for your pocket too.
So join us and see how one day a week can make a world of difference

Paul, Stella and Mary McCartney

I'd love to be a vegetarian, it'd be good for the planet and to myself. But the thing is that I love meat as well. Bacon, ham, roast beef, roast chicken... I'd miss them so much and to be honest I don't think I could do it. However, one day a week without meat is something everyone can do. I reckon this is ideal for me and if things go well, who knows, I might change this to two days a week!

Maybe I'll try that, I've heard of it before, but forgot again, I actually don't eat that much meat, but it's a great idea!
