requiescat in pace

'Fear no more the heat o' the sun,
Nor the furious winter's rages;
Thou thy worldly task hast done,
Home art gone, and ta'en thy wages.'
-Shakespeare

I've had Cleopatra since I was 2. At 5.24a.m. she started having seizures and later we took her to the vet to be put down. Cleo was the sweetest, cutest and kindest cat I ever knew. When, as a child, I pulled her tail she was always patient and never tried to bite or scratch me - or anyone else, for that matter - on purpose. When my dad was ill with cancer, she'd sleep next to his sore leg and make him feel better. Or if anyone else was sick, Cleo would be there and just her presence made everything a little better. In primary, as I walked home from school I could be sure that Cleo was there waiting me by the main road, she even seemed to know what time my school finished! She was fussy with food (like I am), but she ate lots of cream, chocolate and crisps. Not the best food for a cat, I know, but she got what she wanted most of the time. Cleopatra was a happy cat and she lived a good, long life. All the same, I can't help feeling that this is the saddest day of my life and I'll miss her immensely♥.

teddy bears

 I've been sewing a bit lately. I'm not sure at all about these shorts. I mean, I do like them, but there's teddy bears in them, haha! We'll see if I actually start wearing them:-)

And, mind when someone at school stole my hat? Well, now, months afterwards, I found it! Last week when I walked in the school corridors, I saw my hat just randomly in a place I never go to. Looks like whoever took it had second thoughts about taking something belonging to another one! I'm really glad I got my wee hat back and now it's been stuck on my head. Just so we don't unexpectedly have to part for such a long time again.. :-)

frosty windows

It's too cold outside and when it'll get a bit milder the ice rink will be calling me! Until then I'm going to stay inside, drink a lot of hot chocolate and wear comfy sweaters. One of the best things about winter is ice skating, can't wait to get my skates out:-) Also, the frosty windows look pretty!

fifteen men on the dead man's chest, yo-ho-ho, and a bottle of rum!

Stumbled  across this lovely site and as I really liked it I thought I'd share it with you. If you haven't seen these diagrams yet, I'd advise you to take a look. They can really brighten up one's day!

The one with "pirates -or- curious kids with library cards" is probably my favourite. I've been a curious kid in the library, and I'd say I was a happy child. So this leads me into thinking that if I made a career as a pirate I'd really be happy. In "Sense and Sensibility" Margaret says something like "piracy is our only option" and I've always thought it was well said. This only confirms it.

Not that money makes you happy, just gives you more the opportunity (to be happy?). If piracy can be compared to reading, I'm pretty sure it can make one as happy as reading. Of course, I have a slightly romanticized idea of piracy, nothing like it's nowadays. But wouldn't it be grand to sail the seas, explore, see the world, get loads of gold coins, maybe drink rum? So, "Perhaps Margaret is right. Piracy is our only option."
