two churches and a dress

Dress - Self-made
Shoes - 2nd hand/Skopunkten
Sunglasses - Citymarket
Bag (that you can almost see in some pictures) - Mama's old

These should be the last pictures I've left from Finland, and the first ones where you can actually see my new hair. Some days it looks good, some days it doesn't. I had forgotten how fast my hair grows, and should probably cut it a little already if I want to keep it like this. The dress is another new thing. I started sewing it over a year ago and finally finished it before leaving my sewing machine again. The skirt is thicker, which is lovely for autumn (and winter). The floral print of the top part is so pretty too, and if I was still in the same country as my wee Brother, I'd sew a matching top of the fabric that's left.

Walking round this stone fence surrounding the old church used to be one of my favourite things as a wee one. It wasn't as exciting anymore, but I still made the whole circle, just for old times' sake. During the summer and beginning of autumn, I took my mum (i.e. made her take me) to a lot of the sights in my hometown. Being a tourist in your hometown can be so much fun, and it's unbelievable how many places you never visit because they're so near. I've now visited all the war memorials, graveyards and what not. And there's still so much more to see another time. It must be amazing to have a history undergrad for a daughter, ha!

harbour, a long time ago

Top&Bag - Mama's old
Trousers - Dad's old
Turban - Grandma's old
Shoes - 2nd hand/Skopunkten
Sunglasses - Citymarket

I'm so sorry for disappearing from the face of the earth for so long. It's been busy times. My mum had a home blessing, for which we had to clean the house, and I spent two days baking. I also repacked all of my things - to be stored at my mum's and to take back with me to uni. And, finally, last week I came back to Leeds. So, you see it's been a little crazy.

Anyway, these are from a trip to the harbour I did with my mum and some others. It was so nice! It was also the first day I wore long trousers AND long sleeves. Clearly it's autumn already. (Although, these photos obviously are a month old..) I'm kind of wanting to abandon history and become a sailor now, that'd be amazing!

Hope you've all been good, catch you later♥!

way down upon the swanee river

Rings - Gift from godmother, stolen off mama, H&M, gift from godmother

Shirt - Primark
Blazer - Stolen off mama
Shorts - H&M
Over-knee socks - KappAhl
Shoes - 2nd hand/Skopunkten

These aren't from Swanee river, but Kemi river and these are old(ish). I haven't been to the river - or anywhere else -  for a swim in ages. I don't even have this hair anymore as I cut it short a week ago, but haven't taken any pictures. I'll get around to it! I don't have too many days in Finland left, so I've got quite a lot to do!

My mum bought this shirt for me in January and even though I've been wearing it a lot, I don't think you've seen it on the blog. Can I just say that I love it? Wee boxer pups, there's not that many things in this world that are better. (Someone's been trying to convince me they are French bulldogs, but clearly they are not. Boxer pups, I tell you.)

P.S. How blue is that river!

forest fairy

I've really tried to sew a lot during the summer and, man, have I missed my wee sewing machine! I'm trying to take care of that wee baby really well now so it won't feel abandoned once I go back to uni.

I started this skirt ages ago and it didn't take long to do some finishing touches. It's made from leftover fabrics from my graduation dress and basically that's why it became an asymmetrical skirt. There wasn't enough fabric for a full skirt and I didn't fancy leaving it as a mini, hence the "trail". I do like it, although the front of the skirt is dangerously short! And last year I ripped this dress and wasn't able to fix it. I sewed the back and used it a couple of times, but then decided to chop it into a crop top. And it feels like a good decision, even though you all did leave lovely comments about it as a dress:-)
