athens of the north

Sorry for the lack of posts, my computer hasn't been working properly. I don't know if it's doing so now either but so far I've managed to do what I've been trying to. Really can't be bothered with computers sometimes!

Anyway here's some pictures to the days I've missed out.

day 20. a photo of something you enjoy doing. Reading is one of my favourite things. A book + a bed + a cat + chocolate = love. But in this picture there's not only one thing I enjoy doing. There's the book (short stories by Jane Austen) and the dress. I made it myself about a year ago, ande I really do like sewing. Though I haven't sewn anything in ages!

day 21. a photo of you standing up. These are from Saturday when I went uptown:) (Shirt&Jeans - New look)

day 22. a photo of your town. Edinburgh♥ The most beautiful city I've ever been to. I still can't believe I'm staying here. From time to time I get this overwhelming feeling, realizing I'm here and this is my town. It's actually ridiculous. I may be sitting on the bus on my way uptown and I look outside thinking 'oh my god, I'm in Edinburgh!'.

evolution

I bought a new powder a while ago. I've never really got into using foundation so I replace it with powder, in a way. I really like the smell of powders, it's weird. All of these three powders have been good but I haven't found a perfect powder yet.

I have this habit with powders and I've been thinking if it's 'normal'. I suppose it isn't and most people just throw the wee bit of powder left in it away. I don't. You know, how there's always some powder left on the sides and it's really hard to get out of the case. I scrape it with a knife or something and blend it, sometimes I might have many leftover powders and I mix them. (Proud of my economical habits..)

Shirt - New look
Top - Present from my sister (France)
Trousers - My daddy's old :--D

This is what I look like when I'm just chillin' in the house. Well, normally I wear a dress but I happened to have trousers on yesterday. It's been really freezing these past days, my room's too cold:(

Now I'm going to bake some gingerbreads. I saw that I had some dough left from Christmas in the freezer. I've been eating it while writing so I only have about 3/4 left. Better get started!

one two three

day 18. a photo of one of your classes.

This isn't what all my classes are like, but I can say I really enjoyed these lessons at school! We have the school ball/prom in our 2nd year of high school (there's three years of high school in Finland). This was almost a year ago, 19th of February. Such a lovely day:)

We had dancing lessons for a few months and I really liked them. Some dances we danced were different waltzes, troika, jive, cicapo, pavane and so on. There's also dances we planned ourselves and a section where we sang. Throughout the day we performed the dances for other students, parents etc. We also had tea in a restaurant and in the evening there was a after party.

The original idea has been to wear something that's actually old, as the ball's called "Vanhojenpaiva" (=The oldests' day). My mum, for an example, used her mothers old dress on her ball day.  Nowadays most people just wear an evening dress or something like that. I designed my dress, I had a Victorian dress as a model. I thought of sewing it myself but I really wanted it to look like I had planned so I took my drawings to a professional sewer. I'm so happy with how it turned out to be.
