project 366: 018-024

I felt as if I was busy yesterday (even though I really wasn't), but here's the latest in my Project 366 anyway:

018: I had my nameday on Monday and it was great. Any day with cake is great, to be honest.

019: Eating weird assortments of food since 1992:--)

020: Look at how cute my mum's jumper is. It's got lil' houses, trees, birds and fish and everything, haha!

021: Moomin biscuits left from Monday.

022: All the kiwis.

023: Had a good second hand shop day. I collect both of these sets and finding them for a fraction of their price is so good. The original golden ones I've inherited from my grandparents and the blue ones have been a gift from my godmother. I do have loads, but am still always looking for more!

024: Lots of food photos from last week, but what can you do. Had a fairly nice Sunday dinner.

Hope you've all had a lovely start to the week!

pale fire over the sky

'Then came the northern lights–drifts of pale fire over the sky– spears of light, as of empyrean armies– pale, elusive hosts retreating and advancing. Emily lay and watched them in rapture. Her soul was washed pure in that great bath of splendour…Such moments come rarely into any life, but when they do come they are inexpressibly wonderful– as if the finite were for a second infinity– as if humanity were for a space uplifted into divinity– as if all ugliness had vanished, leaving only flawless beauty.'

I wasn't sure what I'd write about to accompany these photos or if I was going to write anything. But then I stumbled on the L. M. Montgomery quote above, and thought it was rather neat. I do have to admit that even though I'm a fan of Montgomery's books (especially when I was younger), I've not read the Emily trilogy from which the quote is from. I love revisiting childhood favourites so a trip to the library might be in order! I've also been loving the amount of aurora borealis happening this winter since the sky's been green and purple on pretty much every clear night. This is a collection of photos from a few nights I've been able to catch some fairly nice shots and there's northern lights again tonight which might lure me outside again. No matter how often I see them I cannot get enough. They will always just be so beautiful. Makes me feel quite lucky to be able to see them so often.

project 366: 011-017

How has it already been a week since my last post.. Time flies when you do nothing, eh! Here's last week's pictures:

 011: Got gifted some chocolates.

012: Duvet day! The fact that I've done nothing is largely due to my (re)discovery of The Office. I only started watching it (the US version) last week and am now on season 7, haha! I did start watching the UK one a few years back but just didn't get into it and then gave the US one a go but didn't get into that either. Now I started again, and realized that last time I'd watched a little over a season and then stopped. Now, all I have to ask is: why? Seriously none of the first or second seasons' episodes would justify me saying 'nah, don't think I'll continue with this'. Clearly Laura a few years back was severely underdeveloped. Fear not, though, I am loving The Office now. (Will maybe have to give the UK one another ago as well.)

013: My love for squirrels is still undying.

014: Bedside books. I'm doing the Goodreads reading challenge again this year and really need to up my game as so far I've failed it every year.. It's becoming an embarrassment. Add me on Goodreads if you fancy, so I can see what you're reading (and vice versa)!

015: Checking out all them squirrels and that.

016: My siblings and I got this new card game called Port Royal for Christmas, and it's super fun!

017: The days are getting longer, the sun is providing pretty lighting and the cold temperatures are creating pretty frosty windows. I think I'm kind of into winter.

What about you guys, what've you been up to, anything fun (and possibly more exciting then watching The Office for hours and hours)?

project 366: 001-010

Since I really enjoyed doing it in 2015, I'm doing Project 365 again this year! Although, with it being a leap year, I suppose project 366 is more accurate. I don't know if I'd go as far as to say that my photography has improved because of it, but taking at least a photo a day really did make me use my camera more. Wherever I go I mostly take my camera with me. And this year I want to be doing even more of that. I'd especially like to get more comfortable with photographing people, as well as spend more time at night-time photography. Taking an actual photography class wold be neat as well! In any case, I hope you like these ~weekly collages because that's going to happen (and if you don't, too bad!).

001: Colouring postcards!

002: Sparkles, sparkles.

003: Going out and stargazing (and almost freezing to death..).

004: For once I got up early to apply to go back to uni. Obviously I had to apply for a course that only takes 9 people on per year, so we'll see where that goes. But really I just wanted to draw attention to the fact that the curliness of my hair is getting out of control.

005: Still Christmassin'.

006: Got these earrings for Christmas and have been wearing them quite often.

007: Lil' Moomins on my wall.

008: I have a wee collection of retro fridge magnets, haha!

009: I've returned to an old favourite as my everyday blush. That is if I even wore make-up every day.

010: Considering the temperature around here, all the woolly socks are needed:--)

Hope you've all had a great start to the week!

baby, it's cold outside

It's been -26°C or colder today so I have definitely not been eager to go outside. And if it stays like this or gets colder I'm going to have plenty of days staying inside, maybe sitting in front of the fireplace. Perfect time to sort out photos and blog posts, then!

This is as much of a Christmas post I'm going to gather together. I didn't take too many photos or get too many presents (mainly Moomin mugs to my ever-growing collection, haha!), but I did eat too much. I'm also old-fashioned and actually celebrate Christmas at least until Epiphany and have therefore still been listening to Christmas songs today. My mum's still into listening to Christmas songs and carols as well (which is good), as long as it's not the same Elvis CD that I could play for weeks. And we're not taking the decorations down until the 13th, so I can lull myself into the belief that it's definitely still Christmas. And I definitely still can eat all the ham (side note: I'm the only one in my family that eats ham at the moment and have had a 3kg ham to eat by myself..), chocolate, gingerbread and sweets. Please, don't break my little Christmas bubble, I don't want it to end yet.

Although, if it does stay this cold, I might start seriously considering those flights to somewhere sunny I've been looking at!

winter florals

 Top&Shoes - New look
Skirt - Self-made
Vest - Mama's old

Happy New Year, you guys!

Hope you've all had a good start to the year and are excited for whatever 2016 will bring with it. I know I am. Uncharacteristically to myself I'm very much looking at all the positives at the moment. In between applying for jobs, I've also started looking at Master's degrees I could maybe apply for, which is kind of exciting. I'm also looking to possibly downsize my wardrobe. Although you'd never see me with a capsule wardrobe (have you ever seen me?), I'm starting to realise I have far too many pieces I wear once a year or less, which is unnecessary. And I'm at the point in my life when I have clothes that don't fit perfectly the body I have now, so why should I keep them 'for later', no matter how cute their print. (If anyone'd be interested in a depop-style shop, let me know as I've been thinking of it!) And if that's not exciting, I'm also thinking of picking up new/forgotten grandma hobbies now that I have so much time for them, such as knitting, calligraphy, painting and learning more Latin. Such fun, haha! And since it's my first winter in Finland in absolute ages I'm also actually looking forward to winter sports. I've always loved ice skating, but I'm also waiting to go skiing!

Anyway, so far the winter's been quite mild. It's raining and snowing in turns, which is why there's lots of snow on some days and hardly any on others. For example, on the day I wore this outfit; hardly any. But at least it makes dressing up easier since I don't have proper winter shoes! These floral ones were good in England, but when it gets to -10°C and colder my poor toes freeze. I also, obviously wear a coat outside. A half-leather vest isn't quite warm enough any longer, haha!

Catch you later!
