thursday thoughts pt. 34

Thursday thoughts are back! I hope that makes you all glad, ha. I figured this would be the perfect quote to continue with, as it's raining all the time these days and I'm living in a house that has a bath for the first time in forever and looking forward to all the bubble baths I now can take. And, I obviously really like the quote as well. It's funnily true, isn't it?

oh, the river, oh, the river, it's running free

 Sunglasses - Citymarket
The rest - H&M

Like I said, I did a lot of swimming in the summer, so I have various photos of different rivers, ponds, lakes and the sea. I do love the water. (But only in a swimming and looking at how pretty it is way. I actually dislike nothing more than the taste of water or getting my fingers all wrinkly from a bath, shower or doing the dishes..) And I think photographing water and its different lighting is one of my favourites. It can look so calming and glisten beautifully, but it can also look so very ominous and dark. On the day these were taken, it was a lovely day yet again and we had a wee walk on the riverbank with le mother.

Also, I have to admit that my mum did get reasonably good at using my camera, as I was asking her to take pictures of me quite often. I even took a little leap of faith and told her about my blog. And I didn't die, which made me think about just letting everyone irl know about it. Then again, I'm not that sure if my mum actually even got it and fully understood the whole blogging aspect of my life, which makes me a bit cautious. I think I still want it to be something more private. At least, if and when my mum still sometimes sees me taking photos of myself, she might believe that it's not only because I'm a vain, narcissistic little brat, haha. Although, I think the notion of food photography and sharing recipes is what she related more to. I know this is what a lot of bloggers discuss, but does all of your family either read your blog, know about it or think you're a bit odd because of it?

you were always faster than me, i'll never catch up with you

 Top - New look
Skirt - Self-made
Shoes - Citymarket

As much as I like autumn, its pretty colours, thick layers and everything, I do miss the late rays of sun and not wearing too many clothes. Not complaining though; sitting inside covered in blankets watching a movie while it's pouring outside is pretty cosy as well. In these pictures I'm wearing some of the things I possibly wore the most this summer, though. I do love my watermelon top very much, I mean it has watermelons on it, how could I not? And I made this skirt once I got to Finland and realized I hadn't brought any skirts with me. It's just a basic black skirt, with a denim zipper at the back. But a girl cannot have too many black skirts, eh?

Also, here's what I look like in snaps that usually don't make their way to blog posts, haha:

aavasaksa

Here's a few snaps from Aavasaksa, where I climbed with my mum and even did some blueberry picking, though it was only early season and there weren't that many. (Fun fact; Aavasaksa translated is "open Germany" which is a bit strange! And I don't know if that was that much fun, haha.) I had actually been to Aavasaksa before, but it was lovely to be back and the view down is always spectacular, no matter which way you look. It was around +30°C and I genuinely felt like melting. And obviously I was very appropriately dressed for roaming in the forest in my maxi dress, haha! It was all good fun, though:-)

 Dress - Vintage
Necklace - Gift
Shoes - Primark

So, after three months, here we are. All the times I've apologized for not posting before added together genuinely do not compare right now... But, you know, I did say that I might not blog this summer, I just never thought it'd be this long. Hope you're all well, though, and I cannot wait to get back to blogging and catching up with you lot!

I've so much photos from this summer and as it's getting more and more dreary outside, I'd say it's the perfect time to look back at all the lovely little summer days. These, for example, are from July/early August (haha). A lot has changed since then, my hair's shorter and less curly, I'm back in England living with new people and there's no fields or seaside to take photos at. All in all I had a wonderful summer:-) I saw family and some friends, wore all my vintage dresses, (like this dreamy cream one that I love and had missed) cooked, baked and ate a hella lot, swam almost every day, sew a little, had picnics and all things nice. And as it was the hottest summer in Finland since 1960-something, I am now ready to face the rainy autumn in Leeds. I'm sure it'll be just as splendid as the summer was:-) And don't you be shy, let me know how you've been these past three months (haha), what've you been doing, how are you, what's the gossip?
